One way we can reduce our own foodprint is by ensuring we do not throw away perfectly good food. There’s nothing worse than discovering your eggs have gone off when biting into a pancake and so follow these simple steps to make sure they are still edible!
Begin by filling a bowl up with water so that an egg could be easily submerged. Place your egg-in-question on top of the water and see what happens. If the egg sinks to the bottom and lays flat on its side it is very fresh whilst if it floats on the water surface this indicates that the egg is no longer fresh to eat. If it is suspended in the water but submerged or if it is touching the bottom but upright, the egg is still edible but you might want to make the pancakes soon!
